Fitspot Wellness

December 1, 2016 – June 1, 2017

Fitspot is a Techstars company that has raised over $2MM in outside funding. It’s original B2C business allows people to book a personal trainer for a 1-hour workout session at a nearby location; it’s burgeoning B2B business charges businesses to offer group instructor-led workouts for their employees. Fitspot clients include Tinder, Johnson & Johnson, NCR, Mailchimp, ExpressJet, Buzzfeed, Uber, and TrueCar. I led product strategy and execution.

During my tenure, I worked with the CPA to build a financial model and help create a strategy to raise an additional $1MM in funding.

Extensive Education

September 1, 2001 – June 1, 2014

  • When I was a sophomore in high school, I was placed into the Foshay Academy of Finance. This was a three-year program where I took classes such as Accounting and Investing.
  • In College, I was a Finance & International Business Major (as well as a Music Major). This meant I needed to apply and be accepted into the competitive undergraduate business school my sophomore year of collect.
  • Passed series 7 and 66 exams in 2010.
  • Passed all three Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Exams between 2009 – 2012, which requires on average over 1,000 hours of study time. Material covers statistics, economics, financial statement analysis, equity investment, fixed income investments, derivatives, alternative investments, and portfolio management.
  • Graduated Harvard Business School in 2014. During my final year, I completed an in-depth research paper on the future of financial technology.

Rochdale Investment Management

November 1, 2009 – June 1, 2012

I joined Rochdale Investment Management when it had $2.2 billion under management. When I left to attend Harvard Business School three years later, it had $6.5 billion under management and was sold to City National Bank. I worked for a partner to help raise over $450MM in new client assets on a 3-person sales & marketing team. The average account size was about $2MM.

  • Analyzed 100+ existing, sophisticated investment accounts.
  • Built sophisticated financial/investment models to showcase innovative investment strategies.
  • Built hundreds of pitch decks.
  • Attended tens of sales meetings.
  • Trained 3+ team members for the sales & marketing team.
  • Automated a part my work and the customer service department’s work using Visual Basic for Applications (Microsoft Excel).

 

Western Asset Management

June 1, 2008 – May 1, 2009

I worked as a fund administrator at Western Asset Management (WAMCO). I reconciled monthly net asset values & orchestrated cash management for $3.5 billion in assets. When I joined, WAMCO had $640 billion under management. A year later it had $390 billion, and I was laid off along with a number of other people.
