Software Development Expertise

I’ve built 10+ web and mobile apps, including one that generated $250K sales and 50K users. I have a deep knowledge of AWS, React, React-Native, Node, MondoDB, Python, and Swift. I’m particularly strong at building minimum viable products, iterating quickly, and finding creative solutions quickly.

Guided Compass

May 1, 2018 – present

Guided Compass is a robust career development platform that powers workforce programs to help career-seekers from career exploration to goal setting to career training to landing paid opportunities. Clients include Los Angeles Unified School District, Detroit Public Schools, UNITE-LA, Mountain Area Workforce Development Board, and Options for Youth Charter Schools.

While workforce programs pay to use the platform, individuals can sign up at any time to use the platform to explore career paths, set goals, collaborate with like-minded individuals, and get referred to paid opportunities.

I am the solo founder: building and iterating on Guided Compass with workforce clients using the MERN (Mongo, Express.js, React.js, Node.js) tech stack. Guided Compass is a web app with five portals, and it has an iOS and Android app built with React Native. Guided Compass is hosted on AWS EC2.

HDLV & WeDesyn

March 1, 2016 – December 1, 2016

I provided product and software development strategy consulting services for this e-Commerce socially-conscious clothing store.

For HDLV, I helped customize the Shopify Website. This included some custom some custom HTML and CSS changes.

For WeDesyn, I developed the iOS mobile app end-to-end using Swift. I used Parse’s backend-as-a-service for the database. Parse was purchased by Facebook and then eventually terminated.

SwayBrand

July 1, 2016 – October 1, 2016

This was the first role for which I was paid to develop a first version of this influencer marketplace app.

I built this iOS app with a Disney iOS engineer, alongside with a back-end engineer and web developer. We used Github to manage the repo. During this project, I learned about design patterns, how to appeal to clients, and how to built a production-ready app from the get-go. I also provided feedback on the design.

Time Capsule

February 1, 2016 – December 1, 2016

I was the developer of Time Capsule as part of a 3-person team. Each other team member was a success entrepreneur and product management at their own right.

Time Capsule allows people to send videos to other people in the future. Those who receive the video see a countdown to when they can open the video.

After conducting several beta test, we couldn’t find a market that had a large enough need for the product.

Compass (1.0)

June 1, 2014 – December 1, 2015

This is the very first mobile app I ever designed, built, and launched. Don’t judge.

To build Compass (1.0), I conducted interviews with career coaches and their customers, learned how to code mobile apps, designed, built, and launched the app myself.

The iOS app was built using Swift, using Parse as a backend-as-a-service. The app included a number of social features, including a Newsfeed and Find Friends algorithm.

I learned how to build apps using AppCoda, YouTube, Udemy courses, and Stack Overflow.
